Beautiful Bridal Shower: An Enchanting Afternoon!

My bridesmaids and family are the best! I have really amazing, wonderful friends and family: willing to drive five hours for me, decorate a whole clubhouse for me, and fill the afternoon (four hours straight!) with laughter, games, food, and gifts. Not to mention the fact that it all fit perfectly with a princess-y Beauty and the Beast theme, from the yellow Belle dress cake to the Eiffel Tower wine stand to the homemade bookmarks and "Be Our Guest" treat bags, to the roses on the tables with rose petals surrounding them, to the game of "Disney Charades"!

The bridesmaids couldn't wait to see my face when I entered, and I felt a bit like a celebrity while being led into the venue by my Goddaughter to meet a crowd of beautiful ladies all taking photos of my reaction. And my reaction was just awe and happiness at the sight of everything (including pictures of me from throughout the years!).

I chose not to eat all day so I could have room for the delicious Filipino food, spaghetti, chili, and desserts (donuts, cake, and candy galore!). My younger brother served as bartender (the only guy in attendance) making drinks for everyone, which were equally delicious. We played games like "How well do you know the bride?" "How well does the bride know the groom?" and the "Toilet Paper Wedding Dress" game (a personal favorite of mine) in addition to "Disney Charades" (my new favorite). I had so much fun and was laughing the whole night!

Four hours just flew by--imagine how fast the wedding will go! Actually, it was a good practice for the wedding (on a smaller scale) since we all had to prepare for a big event hours in advance, put on fancy dresses, have pretty rose-decorated tables, focus on the bride as the center of attention (which is often hard for even me to do), and then eat, drink, and be merry (and soon, "married"!).

There's so much I could say to describe the afternoon that lasted into the evening, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Actual reaction shots from entering the room!

So hard to pick a winner! But I had to go with my fiance's mom in the middle!

LOVE the Eiffel tower wine holder!

Book lovers like Belle need bookmarks! Designed by one of my bridesmaids!

All the glorious food!

Mani-Pedi Ready

The wedding is officially SEVEN days away. That means that in one week (give or take a few hours), I will be a "Mrs." Exciting! Scary! Both! But in order to keep the big day from being too scary, I just have to make sure I'm prepared. That means perfecting our first dance choreography ( see next post ) and taking care of any final items that need to be done before the wedding. That means finishing the favors, printing the programs, and nailing my wedding-day nails look. I wish I could take credit for my new French tips, but I don't know the first thing about nail polish. My fiance's mom treated me to a mani-pedi (the second one I've ever had in my life and my first one with gels!) at The Nail Shoppe LV in town. I'm ready for ring shots!

An Engaged Wedding Guest

This post is partially about my own wedding preparations, but it's actually about a different wedding. This weekend I had the pleasure of attending the marriage of my fiance's cousin! It was a beautiful affair, and definitely a fun night, but it also made me realize how different it is attending a wedding when you're engaged compared to attending a wedding when you're not planning to get married yourself. First, when you're a guest at a wedding and a bride to be, you cry more. As the bride walks down the aisle and as the officiant talks about the meaning of love, you stroke your fiance's hand and look at him. You're both thinking the same thing: this will be us. You both feel that same love. You both imagine saying those same words. You both know yours is going to be forever too. During the reception, you take pictures of everything --from the guestbook table sign to the macaron party favors. You think, "I love that idea of having facts about the...

Say Yes to the Dress!

Of course I chose my wedding dress months ago. I had to, considering how long they typically take to come in. I wanted to plan a wedding in six months. That's apparently "last minute" in the wedding dress industry. I'm not even kidding--most wedding books and websites recommend purchasing the gown "nine months or earlier." As luck would have it, I received a call yesterday that my dress, ordered June 29 (just 17 days after I got engaged) had arrived! That still gives me two and a half months to get it fitted and finalized. The road to get here was a fun one (yay, playing dress up!), but certainly not an easy path. I think I may have even dodged a train wreck along the way: It started out with my initial dress shopping. Almost immediately after I got engaged in June I started visiting the local bridal shops I knew (Alfred Angelo and David's Bridal ) to schedule an appointment for trying on dresses. After waiting five years to get engaged, you ca...
