While I'm no longer a bride-to-be, I did want to update this blog with a few post-wedding notes as my husband and I enjoy our first few months as a married couple. To begin, we are eagerly awaiting our official videographer's film, which takes a few months after the big day to arrive. Thank goodness we received our pictures within 10 days or I would be going a little crazy right now (you know how important pictures are to me, lol). For posterity's sake, here are a few of my favorites: The ceremony: The dance: Then January (one month post wedding) brought about our honeymoon, which was a dream all in itself! I could describe the details of the honeymoon for hours (we spent a day at each of four Disney World parks, we went on carriage rides and boat rides,

It was perfect. No rain. No wind. Not even much cold on a December afternoon as the sun dipped just low enough to avoid shining in the eyes of our wedding party's faces, to give the perfect lighting for the shots of us together, becoming husband and wife. The photographer's phone went off as the wedding band was slipped on my finger. She later went home with the stomach flu. But she also helped bustle my dress so I could dance. We didn't fall. My dear fiance, now dear husband, was able to lift me (dress and all) without fail. We got to take our pictures. We got to give our speeches. We got to cut our cake and dance, and visit with as many guests as we could. Not everyone, but we tried. Everyone said they had fun. That it was beautiful. Amazing. The best wedding they'd been to. A fairy tale. My favorite compliment was that I looked like one of those figurines you see dancing inside a music box. There is no possible way to write down every det

I've been excited. I've been scared. I've been a bride to be...but not for long! It's really, truly all coming together now (as it hopefully should with just one full day left to go!). There have been stressful moments, mostly brought about by overworrying--about the weather, about our first dance, and about trying to make sure everyone is happy. But in the end, we have tried our best and done all we can. No matter what happens, it will be beautiful because it will be ours. And now that we are so close to the big day, I'm starting to reach more mellow points where the wedding preparation is fun again too. Giving presents (and receiving presents!). Finishing up the final DIY decor. Seeing the groomsmen in their snazzy black and gold tuxes. Writing the final drafts of our speeches and remembering why we love each other. It's important to enjoy those moments. Because I won't be a bride to be forever. Tomorrow I become a bride!

So, I've been religiously checking the forecast every day to see what the weather would be like on December 2nd. For as long as the weather can be predicted in advance, it's been showing up as partially cloudy, 0% chance of rain, winds up to 9 miles per hour. High of 64 degrees. Low of 48. Sounds like perfect wedding weather to me. Perhaps just a tiny bit chilly as we get close to sundown, but close enough to perfect. Until today, when 0% chance of rain jumped up to 30%, then down to 20% then up to 40%. Rain. In the afternoon. Likely when I'm going to be having my ceremony. The venue has backup indoor options, but I'm just feeling so overwhelmed at the thought of changing my ceremony location a week before the wedding. And the thought of having to make another major decision because 40% isn't guaranteed, but at a certain point we'll have to choose if we risk a potential outdoor wedding with rain or a potential indoor wedding and not a drop falls. We are definitely getting down to the wire with our wedding countdown (only 7 more days!). That means we have to perfect our first dance, which has been a fun challenge but also one of the aspects of the wedding that makes me nervous. Recite lasting promises of commitment to each other in front of 144 family and friends? No problem. Last on the dance floor for not even four minutes? Terrifying! Despite the fear of falling on my face (I've never actually practiced our dance in the dress so it's entirely possible), we've managed to get at least "decent" at the choreography. So now it's just a matter of fixing our little mistakes. Don't look at my feet. Don't forget to smile. Keep a straight line with shoulders. Glide when I walk. It's like learning to be a princess! The wedding is officially SEVEN days away. That means that in one week (give or take a few hours), I will be a "Mrs." Exciting! Scary! Both! But in order to keep the big day from being too scary, I just have to make sure I'm prepared. That means perfecting our first dance choreography ( see next post ) and taking care of any final items that need to be done before the wedding. That means finishing the favors, printing the programs, and nailing my wedding-day nails look. I wish I could take credit for my new French tips, but I don't know the first thing about nail polish. My fiance's mom treated me to a mani-pedi (the second one I've ever had in my life and my first one with gels!) at The Nail Shoppe LV in town. I'm ready for ring shots!
