Beautiful Bridesmaids!

This weekend I successfully finished asking my closest "sisters" to be my bridesmaids! It took a little longer than I had planned due to schedules and stomach pains that delayed some of the planning, but I wanted to do it in person if I could. I'm so happy to at last have my squad!

Given our Beauty and the Beast theme, I could see no other way to ask someone to be a bridesmaid than with a single red rose. As a pretty and personal touch, I also included a monogrammed necklace with their initials on each pendant (gold in color to match our wedding color too)!

Unlike, The Bachelor, everyone received a rose--except for one bridesmaid who was not able to travel. Instead, I mailed rose petals for her daughters to practice with (flower girls in training)!

The best part of asking was seeing the reactions of my friends. It reminded me of their reactions when I first told them the news that I was engaged. These are just some of my favorites from that announcement back in June:

The next step in the wedding preparation process is to create a Facebook group of bridesmaids for everyone to communicate with each other, and so I can easily send out important information. Like the bridesmaid dresses! Which I sort of almost have finalized. More on that soon!

Right now I'm just grateful to have six beautiful ladies who have agreed to join me on this exciting journey and wild ride! As I've told them before, I don't have any blood sisters (only brothers), but these girls are still sisters to me.

Mani-Pedi Ready

The wedding is officially SEVEN days away. That means that in one week (give or take a few hours), I will be a "Mrs." Exciting! Scary! Both! But in order to keep the big day from being too scary, I just have to make sure I'm prepared. That means perfecting our first dance choreography ( see next post ) and taking care of any final items that need to be done before the wedding. That means finishing the favors, printing the programs, and nailing my wedding-day nails look. I wish I could take credit for my new French tips, but I don't know the first thing about nail polish. My fiance's mom treated me to a mani-pedi (the second one I've ever had in my life and my first one with gels!) at The Nail Shoppe LV in town. I'm ready for ring shots!

Coming Together

I've been excited. I've been scared. I've been a bride to be...but not for long! It's really, truly all coming together now (as it hopefully should with just one full day left to go!). There have been stressful moments, mostly brought about by overworrying--about the weather, about our first dance, and about trying to make sure everyone is happy. But in the end, we have tried our best and done all we can. No matter what happens, it will be beautiful because it will be ours. And now that we are so close to the big day, I'm starting to reach more mellow points where the wedding preparation is fun again too. Giving presents (and receiving presents!). Finishing up the final DIY decor. Seeing the groomsmen in their snazzy black and gold tuxes. Writing the final drafts of our speeches and remembering why we love each other. It's important to enjoy those moments. Because I won't be a bride to be forever. Tomorrow I become a bride! ...

An Engaged Wedding Guest

This post is partially about my own wedding preparations, but it's actually about a different wedding. This weekend I had the pleasure of attending the marriage of my fiance's cousin! It was a beautiful affair, and definitely a fun night, but it also made me realize how different it is attending a wedding when you're engaged compared to attending a wedding when you're not planning to get married yourself. First, when you're a guest at a wedding and a bride to be, you cry more. As the bride walks down the aisle and as the officiant talks about the meaning of love, you stroke your fiance's hand and look at him. You're both thinking the same thing: this will be us. You both feel that same love. You both imagine saying those same words. You both know yours is going to be forever too. During the reception, you take pictures of everything --from the guestbook table sign to the macaron party favors. You think, "I love that idea of having facts about the...
